Western Products Introduces New Pre-Wet System for Hopper Spreaders

Western Products, manufacturer of WESTERN® snow removal and ice control equipment, recently launched its all-new pre-wet system for Striker® stainless steel and Tornado™ poly hopper spreaders. Each system features a corrosion-resistant protected enclosure for pump, electronics and valves and is available with 25- and 50-gallon poly tank capacities for Striker models and 25-gallon poly tank capacities for Tornado models.
The new pre-wet system accessory allows the operator to pre-wet material with a brine solution just before it hits the spinner. This provides two distinct advantages over dry application. Pre-wetting salt begins a chemical reaction in the salt, which accelerates melting. Pre-wet granules also bounce less when hitting the pavement for greater control. Studies have proven application rates can be reduced by 20-30 percent when pre-wetting salt with liquids.
The pre-wet system for both Striker and Tornado hopper spreaders also features FLEET FLEX technology, a universal wiring and controls system that gives operators the added advantage of quick and easy interchanges between electric hopper spreaders. Each control already includes a pre-wet accessory button, which provides simple on/off operation, allowing the operator to choose when to apply brine while spreading. The flow rate is set manually using the valve in the pump housing. For operators who want additional flow control from inside the cab, a separate in-cab control option is available, featuring a flow control dial and warning lights that alert the operator of a clog, or if the tanks are empty.

- Available for all Striker spreader models
- 25 and 50 gallon poly tank capacities
- 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 cubic yard models can accept up to (4) 25 gallon tanks
- 4.5 and 6.0 cubic yard models can accept up to (4) 50 or 25 gallon tanks
Unique features for the Tornado poly hopper spreader:
- Available for all Tornado models manufactured after February 2016
- With the purchase of an additional adapter kit, any Tornado model manufactured between 2009 and January 2016, can accept the pre-wet system
- 25 gallon tank capacities
- 1.5, 1.8 and 2.5 cubic yard models can accept up to (4) 25 gallon tanks
