MILWAUKEE (March 7, 2019) – Western Products, an industry-leading manufacturer of snow and ice control equipment, unveiled its new NIGHTHAWK™ LED headlamps with EdgeView™ Technology at the 2019 NTEA Work Truck Show® in Indianapolis. Along with their unique EdgeView Technology, the headlamps feature a best-in-class light pattern and an intuitive heating system that will help improve operator safety and productivity.

The new NIGHTHAWK LED headlamps offer exclusive EdgeView Technology, which features a dedicated lens and LED bulb that directs light through the outer edge of each headlamp. The design provides a full 180 degrees of light visibility, illuminating the plow from edge to edge, for the best all-around view of the plow’s operating environment.

The headlamps offer 100% LED performance, providing up to two times the light output of halogens for maximum visibility. In addition, they were designed with solid-optic lighting elements that focus the light in a defined pattern, shining the light exactly where it needs to be instead of relying on reflectors to aim the light in front of the vehicle as with many other halogen and LED lamps. The light pattern on the new NIGHTHAWK LED headlamps has been precision-tuned to provide a wider, fuller light pattern for greater visibility by the operator.

The NIGHTHAWK LED headlamps have an innovative heating system and advanced lens design to help prevent ice bridging. The intuitive heating system uses sophisticated temperature-sensitive heating elements that activate when needed to reduce ice buildup. In addition, the headlamp features a sloped lens design without a bezel, which helps combat ice bridging—a phenomenon common on some LED headlamps where defrosted ice builds up along the bezel at the bottom of lamp, refreezes and begins to form a bridge of ice in front of the headlamp.

“We put a lot of R&D into the design and engineering of these headlamps and tested them against the harshest winter conditions in order to ensure they would provide the high quality and performance that would set them apart from the rest of the market” said Western Products Product Manager Doug Clark. “We didn’t want to give our customers just another LED headlamp option; we wanted to give them what we feel are the best LED headlamps available in the industry. I believe our customers will agree when they use them out in the field.”

The new NIGHTHAWK LED headlamps will be offered as an option for WESTERN truck plows.
